Mount Rinjani Trekking Insurance

Trekking Mount Rinjani—Indonesia’s second-highest volcano at 3,726 meters (12,224 feet)—is one of the most rewarding adventures in Southeast Asia. However, steep volcanic trails, rapidly changing weather, and remote high-altitude conditions mean safety and proper preparation must come first.

Why Trekking Insurance Matters on Rinjani

In the event of an injury or severe altitude sickness above the crater rim, ground rescues can take 6 to 12 hours or moreacross rugged terrain. In life-threatening emergencies, rapid helicopter evacuation is the only viable option.

To improve emergency response times and ensure every climber is protected, the Mount Rinjani National Park Authority (TNGR) introduced strict safety regulations: all hikers entering the national park must have verified trekking insurance that covers emergency helicopter evacuation.

Two Ways to Meet the Insurance Requirement

When booking your trek with Ali Trekking Rinjani, you can meet the mandatory National Park insurance requirement in one of two ways:

1. Use Your Own International Travel Insurance

If you already hold an active personal travel or rescue insurance policy, you do not need to purchase local premium insurance—you simply need to provide your policy details during booking so our team can register your e-Rinjani park permit.

Your policy must explicitly cover:

  • High-Altitude Trekking: Up to at least 3,726 meters.

  • Emergency Helicopter Evacuation: Mountain search and rescue (SAR) / aerial evacuation.

  • Geographical Coverage: Valid in Indonesia / Lombok.

  • Volcanic & Adventure Sports: Ensure “trekking on volcanic terrain” is not excluded.

2. Purchase Official Rinjani Premium Trekking Insurance

If your current travel insurance does not cover high-altitude helicopter evacuation—or if you do not have insurance—you are required to add the Mount Rinjani Premium Trekking Insurance to your booking.

  • Cost: IDR 290,000 (~$18 USD) per person

  • Validity: Maximum 4 days (4 × 24 hours) from the moment you pass the park entry gate.

  • Activation: Handled completely by Ali Trekking Rinjani through the official National Park system before your hike begins.
