Rinjani Camping and Equipment Guide

Conquering Mount Rinjani requires stamina, determination, and—above all—the right gear. At Ali Trekking, we prioritize your safety, comfort, and warmth during your volcano adventure. When you trek with us, you don’t need to worry about hauling heavy camping gear up the mountain. Our professional team of local porters handles the heavy lifting, setting up high-quality campsites before you even arrive at camp.

What Equipment Does Ali Trekking Provide?

To ensure a comfortable night’s sleep at 2,600+ meters above sea level where temperatures can drop to 5°C–10°C, Ali Trekking provides top-tier, windproof, and waterproof camping gear included in all our Rinjani Trekking Packages:
  • Double-Layer Dome Tents: Waterproof, wind-resistant, and spacious frame tents designed to withstand high-altitude mountain weather.
  • Thick Foam Mattresses: High-density foam padding to insulate you from the cold, uneven ground and ensure proper rest.
  • Warm Sleeping Bags: Clean, thermal sleeping bags rated for low temperatures to keep you comfortable throughout the night.
  • Inflatable / Comfortable Pillows: Extra support for a restful night before your early morning summit attack.
  • Private Toilet Tents: Portable, clean, and private toilet tents set up at every campsite for hygienic convenience.
  • Cooking & Dining Gear: Folding camp chairs, dining tables, and complete cooking gear for fresh, hot meals prepared by our porter team.

Essential Personal Packing List (What You Should Bring)

While Ali Trekking supplies all heavy camping gear and fresh meals, you need to bring personal trekking attire and items in your daypack:

1. Essential Clothing & Layers

  • Base Layer: Moisture-wicking thermal shirts and long underwear for cold nights.
  • Trek Pants & Shorts: Lightweight, quick-dry hiking pants.
  • Warm Outer Layer: Fleece jacket, down jacket, or windproof/waterproof jacket for the summit push.
  • Headwear & Gloves: Warm beanie, sun hat, and insulated gloves.
  • Footwear: Sturdy, broken-in trekking boots with good ankle support and grip, plus 3-4 pairs of wool hiking socks.

2. Gear & Personal Accessories

  • Headlamp: Crucial for the 3:00 AM summit climb (bring extra batteries).
  • Trekking Poles: Highly recommended for stability during steep descents and loose scree paths.
  • Daypack (20–30L): To carry your water, camera, rain jacket, and personal belongings.
  • Sun Protection: UV sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen, and lip balm.
  • Toiletries: Wet wipes, hand sanitizer, small towel, and personal medication.
  • Hydration: Reusable water bottle or hydration bladder (our team supplies boiled, filtered drinking water throughout the trek).

How Our Porters Set Up Your Campsite

  1. Pre-Arrival Setup: Our porter team treks ahead of the group to secure the best camping spots at crater rims (Sembalun or Senaru) or Segara Anak Lake.
  2. Ready-to-Use Tents: By the time you arrive at basecamp, your tents are pitched, mattresses laid out, and toilet tent set up.
  3. Hot Drinks & Meals: Enjoy hot tea, coffee, or hot chocolate with freshly cooked meals right outside your tent as you watch the sunset over Lombok.
